Pastor’s Study: “Two Views on Homosexuality, the Bible and the Church”
Five-Week study beginning September 16, 2019
Pastor Laura will be leading a discussion of the book Two Views on Homosexuality, the Bible and the Church by William Loader, Megan K. DeFranza, Wesley Hill, and Stephen R. Holmes. This is a book recommended by Bishop LaTrelle Miller Easterling and it is a deep dive into scripture and ethics. It is one important part of how we will learn to have hard conversations about our place as a welcoming community. We will meet for 5 weeks on Mondays – there will be a one-hour noontime session via ZOOM conference (more information to follow) and a face-to-face discussion at the church at 7:30pm.
This book includes language and themes around sexuality that will be unsettling for some, particularly because it is not something we discuss all that often. Pastor Laura offers this as a warning – please know that the book includes physiological references to the mechanics of sexuality that are important to our scriptural, cultural and scientific understanding.
Stop by the table in the Fellowship Hall to sign up and pick up your book ($10) or contact Gina Dawson.
