UMCOR Flood Bucket Challenge
We have a bucket list! Please help! UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) follows right behind the Red Cross in responding to emergencies, focusing on clean up and rebuilding. UMC members assist UMCOR by assembling relief “kits” which are stored in warehouses across the country, ready to be distributed immediately at the time of need. Hurricane Harvey floods will use up the supply. Now UMCOR needs to replenish the warehouses to be ready for the next time. We want to fill at least 72 buckets.
You can help in two ways:
- Purchase items and deliver them to church any day or if you order online, OK to ship direct to church. Your donations of goods are very appreciated for both the items and the shopping effort. OR make a monetary donation and we’ll do the shopping. UMCOR has figured out what will fit in a five gallon bucket. Most items will be unwrapped before packing, so OK to purchase in any quantity. We will use Mission Auction funds to add to your donations to fill more buckets.
- Come to Fellowship Hall Friday, Sept. 29 at 7:00 p.m. for bucket packing followed by ice cream sundaes. Children are welcome and will be able to help.
Stop by the Bucket List table in Fellowship Hall before and after the 10 a.m. service on Sept. Sundays for more information and to drop off donations.
