Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Worship at 8:45am and 10:00am

Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.” –Mark 9:35-37

Rev. Wayne Chung will be preaching at both services, “Who is the Greatest?”

Jesus predicts His suffering and death for a second time. The disciples are afraid to ask Him. Rather they argue about who is the greatest. What question do you have you are afraid to ask of God? Jesus teaches to be first, one must be last. To abandon status is not natural. What does it take to make this shift?

Scripture: Mark 9:30-37
